Health and Safety Testing

The Health and Safety Test demonstrates a understanding and knowledge of current health and safety issues.  The test aims to raise the standards of safety across the industry .  The Health and Safety Test forms a key part of many of the major card schemes including CPCS, CSCS. The test can be undertaken at a number of sites throughout the UK, there  is a Study Guide available for the Health and Safety Test which is available in paperback form. To order a Study Guide, or to book the Health and Safety Test please call 07403 163853  or email to progression@contractor.net

CPCS Technical Test

The Standard Technical Test comprises 2 parts:

 1.  The Standard Theory Test
The theory test is a verbal test, held in a one-to-one session with a CPCS Tester. The Test is valid for six months. Each Theory Test will take approximately 1.15hours. Candidates must achieve a pass mark of 80%. Once the test has been completed the Tester will issue a grading sheet and feedback on the candidates performance during the test. Once the Theory Test has been successfully completed the Standard Practical Test can then be taken.

2.  The Standard Practical Test -

There is a Standard Practical Test for each category of plant. The Standard Practical Test is delivered in a one-to-one session with a CPCS Tester.· Each test has a specified time limit. Once the test has been completed the Tester will issue a .grading sheet and feedback on the candidates performance during the test.
The CPCS Technical Tests are carried out either at an accredited test centre, or at clients site.

National Vocational Qualification - NVQ

NVQ stands for National Vocational Qualification. It is a 'competence-based' qualification which relates to practical, work-related tasks.  The NVQ will help you to develop your skills and knowledge to do a job effectively.

NVQs are based on national standards for various occupations and categories of machine. The standards say what a competent person in a job could be expected to do. As you progress through the NVQ, by comparing your skills and knowledge with these standards, you will be able to see what you need to do to meet them.CPCS requires an individual to prove operating competence through the achievement of the NVQ to achieve a full CPCS Competent Operator Card.  For further details of the NVQ please go to the CPCS website at www.cskills.org/education/cpcs.

Logbook

The role of the logbook is to record life-long learning and can provide evidence towards the renewal of the CPCS Competent Operator Card.  The completion of the log book is voluntary, and there are other forms of evidence that can be used to renew a Competent Operator Card, but it is a useful method of recording activities on machinery and equipment and its use is recommended by CPCS.  For more detailed information on the Logbook and guidance on completion please go to the CPCS Website at www.cskills.org/education/cpcs
